SCENARIO

DETAILS

Two AS are present, 65501 & 65502

AS:65501 belongs to ISP

AS:65502 belongs to Datacentre

eBGP running between: R2 & R4, R3 & R4

OSPF running between: R1, R2 & R3 through physical interfaces

iBGP running between: R1, R2 & R3

PURPOSE OF MED

Without doing changes at ISP, changes are implemented in Datacentre only, we can

make the different path preferred to reach different networks in our Datacentre

REQUIREMENT

To enter into AS(65502) and reach networks(10.4.0.1/16  &  10.5.0.1/16), we have two options either (R2 to R4)  or  (R3 to R4)

Our plan is to make path preference as:

For network 10.4.0.1/16: R2 to R4

For network 10.5.0.1/16: R3 to R4

Here, by using MED attribute at R4, we can fulfill our requirement

*******************

TASK

From R2 & R3, paths are preferred between  (R2 to R4)  or  (R3 to R4)

From R1, network 10.4.0.1/16  &  10.5.0.1/16  are not reachable, whereas iBGP & IGP(OSPF for reachability) is running between R1, R2 & R3

  1. Hi, I am trying to do this lab, but I think something is not clearly mentioned! Do we need to configure any IGP on R4? I even got your zip file from google drive, and its seems there is an issue with that too. Coz I am not able to ping to the destined network (10.4.0.1 and 10.5.0.1).If you could throw some light here that would be great!
