INTERVIEW is simply the assessment process to analyze your view or understanding, in your expertize domain.
This meaning is pretty simple to understand, but are you really ready with your knowledge to crack the interview .. !!
Knowledge is the vital energy booster to crack the interview, but wait .. Knowledge is not the only parameter to crack the Interview.
Proper Analysis & Preparation with presentation capabilities leads to the final positive results.
TIP 1: UNDERSTANDING REQUIREMENT
TIP 2: TAKE THE ASSESSMENT
TIP 3: REVIEW THE RESUME
TIP 1: UNDERSTANDING ENVIRONMENT
As we all know, Networking is a large domain in itself. Analyze which topics or technology requires to be more focused upon.
Requirement may vary depending on the work environment or project environment.
Firstly, confirm one thing if the project is more about
ISP (Internet Service Provider) or,
TAC SUPPORT (Technical Assistance Center) or,
DEDICATED SUPPORT on particular technologies like Nexus, Riverbed, Load Balancer, etc.
In ISP environment, Networking is more inclined towards Routing part & less inclined towards switching part.
ISP provides Leased line connectivity, Internet connectivity, Point to point connectivity.
In all the scenarios, ISP focuses majorly upon the ISP cloud or network.
In ISP cloud, major portion of the work belongs to
–> Configuring BGP (Exterior Gateway Protocol), BGP attributes modifications in Multihoming scenarios,
–> IGP like OSPF, EIGRP,
–> Static Routing Scenarios
-> fewer portions belongs to Switching part.
–> ARP mechanism,
–> Traceroute based on Layer 2 & Layer 3,
You should get a strong hold on ROUTING part with practical exposure depending on your experience.
Datacenter is more about distributing the data or, acting as center of the data distribution.
What is actually called DATA here?
Applications running on servers or,
Traffic going towards Internet or,
Traffic going from one site to another site.
Datacenter is acting as the center for traffic flow of the network or group of servers, where applications are running.
Datacenter is more focused about internal network.
In terms of technology, more focused upon
Routing — > IGP(Interior Gateway Protocol) — > like OSPF, EIGRP
Switching — > VLAN, TRUNKING, VTP, STP, RSTP, MSTP, HSRP (Load Sharing Mechanism)
Other Technologies — > Riverbed ( WAN Optimizers ), Load Balancers, GSS
Hardware Knowledge — > Nexus, 6500, 4500, ASR routers, 3900, 2600
Tools — > For Bandwidth utilization like NFA( Net Flow Analyzer), Top Talkers list
TAC SUPPORT (Technical Assistance Center)
TAC is the complete assistance center for,
–> Proper working of Technology’s default behavior, which requires Packed Level Troubleshooting most of the times.
–> Operations scenario like How OSPF, HSRP should be implemented as per requirement.
–> Sound hardware knowledge including port level issues & security.
DEDICATED SUPPORT ON PARTICULAR TECHNOLOGIES
There are some requirements, which are dedicatedly based upon a particular technology.
Then, you have to be well verged with a particular Technology’s in & out.
–> You should be clear with the theoretical stuff.
–> Well verged practical exposure.
–> Sound hardware knowledge.
–> Strong hold on Understanding Topology.
–> Troubleshooting Real World Scenarios.
–> Device capabilities, benefits, advantages & shortcomings.
TIP2: TAKE THE ASSESSMENT
Assessment shows the real picture. Take the assessment more focused upon
Concepts Insight with Twisted Scenarios,
Real World Scenarios (Including Troubleshooting & Designing cases).
After preparation, just try to involve more in the discussion forums, give your inputs, and capture the Experts comments & suggestions.
Prepare your own well organized database with the captured knowledge for future references.
TAKE THE ASSESSMENT
TIP3: REVIEW THE RESUME
This is the least focused part. We study at its best, take the assessment, be ready to shoot the Bulls eye.
Finally, we missed at final point, we keep the strings loose, and we simply paste all the Concepts, Topics, Tools, Hardware models in our resume.
By simply pasting the keywords of the technology, we are presenting our knowledge like a black box. Then, it depends on the interviewer in which direction interview will proceed.
Note Down Below Things,
If you are experienced, put the technology related practical work in your resume, to drive the direction of interview as per your suitability.
For OSPF, mark down statements like
Implemented OSPF Asymmetric Loop Avoidance & Designing.
Implemented Route- Maps in OSPF process ID.
These statements are pretty clear with the stuff .. you are working upon in real world.
For VLAN’s, mark down the statements like,
Configuring SVI for Inter-VLAN routing.
